The European / International Computer Driving Licence (ECDL / ICDL) is a popular global standard entry-level certificate for computer literacy.
The ECDL / ICDL qualification (called the ICDL or International Computer Driving Licence in some countries) is used in 138 countries and has been achieved by over 9 million people. Many of the skills included in the ECDL / ICDL course are included in the various IT LIteracy courses available for free access on the ALISON website including the ABC IT and Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum.
Alison.com is curently upgrading its ECDL / ICDL 4.0 Version with the support of a well-known international Non-Government Organisation and hopes to release the course for free access worldwide in March 2010, pending approval from the ECDL Foundation and its various international licencees.
