ICDL Computer Based Training

Computer Based Training (CBT) is electronically delivered courseware. Users can access multiple IT, as well as Softskill courses on their PC's. This is extremely beneficial as up to date courseware can be available at the click of a button without time away from the workplace. E-Learning is cost effective and selfpaced, allowing learning to occur at your own pace and in your own time.

ICDL Core:
What is the ICDL?
The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) was established as a result of the success of the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) in Europe, an internationally recognized qualification in core IT skills (ICDL is recognized in 150 countries). Accredited by computer societies worldwide, it consists of seven modules; Basic Concepts of IT, Using the Computer and Managing Files, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentations and Information & Communication. The licence is awarded once a test in each of the seven modules has been passed and 9 million log books have been sold to date. It confirms the holder has up-to-date computer skills.

Testimonies:

“Learning how to learn is vitally important to school leavers who are faced with the most rapidly changing field that exists. Electric Paper’s ICDL courseware allows students to learn at their own pace. Teachers like the approach because the students are self-motivated and begin seeking knowledge because they want to know! For students to develop as life-long learners they need to assess their own progress which the Assessments enable them to do in a user-friendly manner”
Laurie Tulloch, Principal, Hillcrest High School, Thunder Bay Ontario.
“Electric Paper’s ECDL courseware is skills-based, uses popular commercial software in exercises and examples, isn’t labour intensive and is simple to use. It runs on our network where it requires very little support, enabling students to work at their own pace and in their own directions, independently”
Mike Chapman, Technology College Co-ordinator, Trinity High School.
“We ran a pilot to look at the best way of delivering ECDL. This involved trying out tutor-led, text-based and CD-ROM methods. We monitored the results carefully. We decided on the Electric Paper CD-ROM. Staff enjoyed the stimulation and flexibility of the interactive course. From the corporate point of view it is a very cost effective way to train large numbers of staff. It gives them the opportunity to study at their own pace at home or in the learning centre” Maura Stewart, IT Training Specialist, Nortel Networks.
