| Umfundi Evaluation & Examination System
Umfundi means "Student" in Zulu. Any course in any learning institution can be tested and measured using Umfundi.
It has a wide range of features (see below). However it is essentially a tool that will allow management to measure the skills that their staff have and to measure the improvement of the staff in the various software applications. |

| Tests: |
- Questions can be categorized according to topic, types, etc
- A test can be compiled with questions from different topics
- A “serial number” can be provided for each question according to topic, etc
- The “serial number” can be used to search for and select questions
- Questions can be used from different categories in one test without duplicating any
- Questions can be converted to the databank from existing databanks
- Tests can be created on a random basis per student
- Specific questions can be flagged to be included or excluded in a test
- The system is suitable for surveys

| Control mechanisms in the test: |
- A time limit can be set for the test
- The sequence of questions can be randomized
- The distracters/options per question can be randomized
- The system limits the number of times a student can write a test
- It is easy to move from one question to another (I.e. backwards and forwards)
- Buttons can be selected for a test, and these buttons can be switched on/off per question/test, e.g. backward/forward buttons
- Students can be forced to go through all the questions at least once, before exiting the test.
- Students can be allowed to exit the test before completing all the questions.
- Students can navigate within a test
- A specific date and time for a test to be active can be set

| Other Features Include: |
Feedback:
- Feedback can be set on/off
- The event of feedback can be set, e.g. after all the questions/after each question/not at all
- You can determine the format of the feedback, e.g. graphical/text/own format
- The system indicates what the student answered as well as the correct answer
- Feedback of final marks can be set on/off
- Extra time can be set for students to work through the feedback after test completion.

Question Types:
- Multiple Choice - If there are a number of options, these can be presented in a column. Options can be limited (number of possible answers)
- Multiple Response - The number of responses students enter can be limited. Options can be limited (number of possible answers)
- Information page
- Fill-in the blanks - Boolean operators can be used for marking
- Hot-Spot
- Match the Columns
- Numeric - Ranges can be set. The number of decimal places can be limited
- Calculated (questions are randomly created according to set parameters)
- Free format - Answers can be printed out to be marked by the lecturer
- Multiple step – If more than one step in needed to answer a question

- Graphics can be included as part of a question
- Sound can be included as part of a question
- Video can be included as part of a question
- Animations can be included as part of a question
- Text can be formatted easily
- Templates can be used to set the format of a completed test

- There is a zoom facility for graphics and videos

- Answers can be saved in real time (if a power failure occurs the answers must be saved

- Technical support is available in South Africa.
- Extensive training is available to enable clients to use the system to its full capacity.
- There is a quick response time in the event of technical problems.
- There is a service level agreement should it be deemed necessary.
