The nature of testing is changing,
with an increased number of examinations in the field of IT being
tested interactively. Litmus Learning firmly believes that the best
medium for the assessment of skills in Information Technology
is through the use of Information Technology. In addition, the
valuable time spent by experienced staff marking and assessing
examination papers can be saved by automated results feedback
and reporting.
ATS tests a candidate’s
proficiency in using an application by asking them to perform
tasks or produce a document within the application itself. The
test engine sits behind the application software and registers
actions being carried out. This not only means that the test environment
is familiar to users, but the assessment is completely performance-based,
rather than being a retentive exercise.
The overwhelming advantage of
testing in-application is that a student is flexible to perform
a task using any method that they are familiar with. Additionally,
all features of the application software such as help files, tool
tips and spell checks are available, just as they would be in
the work environment – making for realistic and interactive
testing.
ATS ADMIN
The software is split into two
areas: test administrator and test software. The administrator
area holds the questions, the results database, student information
and reports. The administration software comes pre set-up with
several report formats giving in-depth feedback on a candidate’s
performance. It also offers access to archived student documents.
Records can be imported from another database and extracted to
produce tailored reports of your choice.
Features
include:
- Extensive reporting and in-depth result analysis.
- Test document archiving and student feedback.
- Minimal manual administration of student tests.
- Consistent marking and objective results.
- Operates in Windows 2000/XP/2003
- Automated licensing and test module credits. |
ATS TESTS
The test software can be installed
on many machines and in the area the students use to actually
take the examination. The tests are performed in-application to
give a true to life assessment. The utilization of the common
application package allows experienced users to take and pass
the exams, without necessarily requiring extensive training. Results
are fed back and stored in the administration area upon completion.
Features include:
- Combination of in application
and multiple choice testing.
- Flexible testing options to suit different learning styles and
techniques.
- Instant marking and test results
- Exercise instructions can be printed on paper if the student
prefers.
- Provides a very ‘real-life’ testing experience and
assessment of knowledge.
About the Primer Test
It can be most un-nerving for
a student to sit a test or exam. This is especially true when
they are not familiar with the exam environment. The best test
results come from those who are familiar with the wording of questions
and have and have had a practice in revision.
The Primer Software is used alongside
the ATS. It is a ‘copy’ of the student test software
and contains practice questions for all seven modules of the ECDL
and ICDL. It offers students the best possible examples of mock
test questions during their preparation for the actual accredited
exam. It is designed to look and feel as close to the real thing
as possible.
Benefits
- Flexible Licensing options
- Instant results on performance given directly to the student
- No administration required – all the tests are pre-set
for the student to take
- Improves the pass rate.
How is the test run?
No special equipment is used,
other than the PC. The Primer launches off the ATS, so that it
must be installed on the PC. The tests have been assigned using
pre-defined candidate codes and passwords to enable you to begin
testing as soon as it is installed. Simply select the test you
require, and press ’start test’. If one of the Microsoft
applications is required, it will be started by the Primer Test,
and will be closed when the test is complete
